Position Overview

Mears Group PLC, a leading UK provider of repair, maintenance, and regeneration services, is seeking a Floor Layer to join their team in Milton Keynes. This full-time, permanent role involves delivering expert flooring installation and repair services across residential properties in collaboration with Milton Keynes Council, ensuring top-quality workmanship and community satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and replace sheet vinyl flooring with flawless finishes and sealed seams.
• Lay ceramic and other tile varieties, including precise cutting, alignment, grouting, and sealing.
• Fit cap and cove wet room floors to create seamless, waterproof surfaces featuring curved wall edges.
• Prepare subfloors by cleaning, repairing, and priming to ensure excellent adhesion.
• Apply self-levelling compounds and screeds for smooth, even bases.
• Perform flooring installations and repairs in kitchens, bathrooms, communal areas, and void properties.
• Accurately measure and cut flooring materials to fit around fixtures and obstacles.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in excellent condition.
• Use PDA systems to log work progress and updates.
• Communicate professionally with tenants, clients, and colleagues.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and company procedures.

Candidate Requirements

• Demonstrated floor laying experience in both domestic and commercial environments.
• Proficient in sheet vinyl, tiling, cap and cove fitting, and floor preparation techniques.
• Experience applying self-levelling compounds and screeds.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage workloads effectively.
• Meticulous attention to detail and dedication to quality workmanship.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
• Basic IT skills for reporting and logging tasks.
• Possession of a full UK driving licence.
• Ownership and proficient use of personal hand and power tools.
