General Operative - Void Clearance

About the Role

We seek a diligent and dependable Void Clearance Operative to join our team in Peterborough, assisting in preparing vacant residential properties for refurbishment and new tenants. The role involves working across a variety of residences such as houses, flats, and maisonettes, with the main focus on removing unwanted items and waste to ensure properties are safe and ready for subsequent works.

Key Responsibilities

• Clearing furniture, household items, rubbish, and other unwanted materials from vacant properties.
• Removing and disposing of waste in compliance with environmental standards and company policies.
• Performing strip outs of flooring, curtains, blinds, and non-fixed items when necessary.
• Ensuring gardens, sheds, garages, and communal spaces are cleared of debris.
• Safely loading and unloading waste and materials using company vehicles.
• Separating recyclable materials to support sustainable disposal practices.
• Conducting final inspections to confirm properties are ready for refurbishment or letting.
• Reporting property damage, maintenance concerns, or health and safety issues to supervisors promptly.
• Taking before and after photographs of cleared properties when required.
• Using equipment, tools, and personal protective equipment securely following health and safety guidelines.
• Supporting basic property preparation tasks as needed.
• Maintaining cleanliness and organization of company vehicles, equipment, and storage areas.
• Collaborating with colleagues to meet agreed timelines for property completion.
• Delivering excellent customer service when interacting with residents, clients, and the public.

Candidate Requirements

• Experience in property clearance, waste removal, labouring, removals, or similar physical roles.
• Possession of a full UK driving licence.
• Awareness of health and safety regulations and safe working practices.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize workloads effectively.
• Reliable, well-organized, and capable of meeting deadlines.

Working Hours & Salary

This is a permanent, full-time position working 42.5 hours per week from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The annual salary offered is up to £28,186.33.

To operate a company vehicle, candidates must be at least 21 years old, hold a driving licence for over 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points on their licence.
