The Payroll Specialist on the EOR Equity Services team focuses on the complicated process of handling equity compensation such as stock options and RSUs across multiple countries. You will ensure that these complex equity events are translated accurately into payroll runs that comply with international tax and regulatory requirements. Prior expertise in equity is not mandatory; strong fundamentals in multi-country payroll, detail orientation, and problem-solving skills are essential, with training provided in the equity domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise global clients on managing equity compensation events properly, including earnings code selection, handling taxable amounts, and setting up off-cycle payrolls.
- Oversee accurate processing of stock option exercises and RSU vestings across various jurisdictions.
- Clarify complex equity compensation outcomes for clients and their employees, explaining tax implications and withholding calculations.
- Collaborate with filings specialists to support country-specific equity-related filings such as UK ERS returns, Ireland RSS1, and Australia ESS.
- Work alongside Engineering teams to identify software issues, optimize payroll workflows, and automate manual procedures.
- Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and develop internal guidance documents that simplify cross-border equity compliance.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of direct experience in payroll operations, tax compliance, or managing non-cash/imputed income such as benefits-in-kind and fringe benefits; experience managing multi-country payroll is advantageous.
- Proficient with case management software (e.g., Salesforce) and skilled in handling complex datasets using spreadsheet tools (Excel or Google Sheets) including functions like VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and formulas.
- Exceptional communication skills capable of translating intricate tax laws into clear guidance.
- Technical aptitude to collaborate with engineering to resolve software bugs and enhance processes.
- Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-evolving technology-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience processing US or international stock options (NSOs) and RSUs.
