Operations Controller

Overview

This role focuses on maintaining a secure, timely, and dependable flight schedule. The person in this position is expected to function both autonomously and collaboratively to oversee the operations of the A320, B787, and E190 fleets within Scoot's network.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure all flights are safely dispatched following Company policies and CAAS regulations.
• Carry out flight watch responsibilities to anticipate and mitigate operational delays or disruptions.
• Optimize utilization of both crew and aircraft.
• Coordinate flight schedule changes and recovery of flying programs as needed.
• Manage daily operational tasks including adjusting flight gauge sizes and disseminating relevant information to stakeholders.

Aircraft Utilization

• Maximize aircraft usage plans to support Scoot's flight programs.
• Ensure adherence to aircraft turnaround requirements.
• Adjust flight timings promptly during disruptions to minimize delays.
• Implement strategies such as ‘Last in First out’ to reduce towing for night-stopping aircraft.
• Comply with engineering and operational requirements at ports.
• Consider Low APD and Low DOW aircraft factors in scheduling.
• Modify aircraft utilization plans as necessary during disruptions, avoiding airport curfews.

Crewing Management

• Follow ANR rules and additional company restrictions for crew assignments.
• Ensure all flights are properly crewed within the 72-hour window.
• Conduct hour checks to keep crews within operational limits and rectify violations.
• Support sourcing of Support Pilots for simulations and monitor trainee progress during line operations.
• Communicate training issues to the training department as needed.
• Maintain pilot and cabin crew standby requirements and address any shortfall promptly.
• Handle crew-related disruptions like no shows, duty stand downs, or last-minute medical leaves to minimize flight delays.

Disruption Management

• Identify and resolve potential operational problems immediately.
• Maintain communication with crew and liaise with affected stations.
• Develop crew repositioning plans and update disruption groups accordingly.
• Distribute revised estimated departure times and ensure crew duty limitations are not violated.

Documentation and Flight Watch

• Prepare required APIS and documentation for ports.
• Keep crew travel documents updated in internal systems like Merlot and verify against documentation sent.
• Monitor documentation expirations like SEPs and issue necessary letters.
• Track aircraft movements to ensure timely flight updates and identify delay reasons.
• Maintain communication through SITA, ACARS, and VHF radio, reporting irregularities and escalating when necessary.

Candidate Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in any field.
• Availability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to multi-task independently.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and able to learn advanced aviation scheduling software.
• Experience with AIMS rostering systems and prior operations environment exposure is advantageous.
