About the Role
Join SouthRoads, a prominent civil construction and maintenance contractor in New Zealand's lower South Island and part of the HWR Group, to support and enhance the Clutha District road network. This hands-on position, based in Balclutha, Otago, involves inspecting roads, managing maintenance needs, coordinating crews and subcontractors, and liaising with council representatives to ensure safety and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections on the road network to detect pavement, shoulder, and roadside defects.
- Evaluate maintenance needs and propose suitable repair or treatment solutions.
- Manage Customer Service Requests (RFS) including investigation, response, scheduling, and closure.
- Coordinate and assist with stabilisation and pavement resealing programs.
- Communicate with crews and subcontractors to ensure safe and efficient work execution.
- Keep precise records, work histories and asset data in the RAMM system.
- Support monthly scheduling and prioritization of work tasks.
- Work closely with Clutha District Council representatives on maintenance and customer inquiries.
- Oversee quality, health and safety, and environmental compliance standards.
- Respond promptly to network issues and emergency situations when required.
Candidate Requirements
- Practical experience in road maintenance, road construction, or network inspection.
- Knowledge of pavement defects, edge breaks, stabilisation and resealing techniques.
- Skill in assessing and prioritizing maintenance tasks.
- Excellent communication and customer service capabilities.
- Experience using RAMM or comparable asset management software.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Awareness of health, safety, and environmental regulations in civil construction.
- Ability to work autonomously and make informed field decisions.
- Possession of a current full Class 1 driver licence.
