Job description
About the Role
We are seeking an inquisitive and commercially savvy Aggregates Manager to oversee aggregate resources across Southland and Otago. This newly created role offers the autonomy to shape its operation and demands active engagement beyond routine data entry, encouraging investigation when anomalies arise.
Located in Invercargill, the role involves managing aggregate inventory, detailed reporting, and future planning across multiple quarry and operational sites. Primarily office-based, utilizing company systems, telematics, Excel, reports, specifications, and planning data, it also includes about one day per week on-site visits for inspections and drone footage collection.
Responsibilities
- Manage stock levels, quality data, and regular reporting across various sites
- Analyze data attentively and resolve inconsistencies
- Organize drone surveys of stockpiles and operational zones
- Support resource consents, access agreements, and royalty management
- Identify new quarry sites and future business potentials
- Maintain compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality standards
Requirements
- Approximately five years of relevant operational, technical, or coordination experience
- Strong proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office applications
- Exceptional attention to detail with a practical, process-oriented mindset
- Proactive attitude with the confidence to question and investigate data discrepancies
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
- Possession of a full driver's license
- Experience with aggregate specifications, lab testing, drones, surveying, resource consents, or quarry management systems advantageous
Additional Information
Drone experience is beneficial but not essential; training for Part 101 & 102 certifications will be provided. Candidates from quarrying, aggregates, civil construction, mining, forestry, materials testing, surveying, or other land-based industries are welcome, even without direct quarry management experience.
This full-time role operates Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, with some flexibility and the option to work from other SouthRoads offices where feasible. Benefits include a company vehicle, discounted fuel, health insurance after 12 months, and access to the company social club.
You will be entrusted with ownership of your work, expected to use your initiative, and contribute across the team as needed. If you enjoy unraveling the narratives behind data and connecting it with operational realities, this role is for you.
