Multi-Skilled Generic Support Worker

Overview

The NHS Shetland is seeking dedicated Generic Support Workers to join their Hotel Services Department. This non-clinical position focuses on maintaining cleanliness and safety standards throughout NHS Shetland facilities, adhering to NHS Scotland guidelines.

Work Schedule and Compensation

This full-time position requires 36 hours per week with variable start and end times. While the primary schedule is Monday to Friday, occasional evening, night, and weekend shifts are necessary to ensure continuity during staff absences or leave, with additional pay for eligible shifts. The annual salary ranges from 5,696 to 5,988, plus an additional Distant Islands Allowance of 2,578 per annum.

Role Responsibilities

• Deliver essential cleaning and support services across multiple NHS Shetland locations.
• Contribute to a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Provide flexible and varied domestic service duties as part of the Hotel Services team.

Candidate Requirements

• Strong communication abilities with flexibility, reliability, and capacity to work under pressure.
• Full training and induction will be provided, alongside continuous mentorship until achieving full competence.
• A full driving license is preferred to support work across various sites within Shetland.
• Compliance with Induction Standards and Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers within 3 months of employment is mandatory.
