Mobile Application Developer - Android

About the Role

We are looking for an Android Mobile Application Developer to lead the design, development, implementation, and support phases of Android mobile apps. The role involves translating UI designs and wireframes into robust code, building and maintaining efficient Java-based Android applications with high performance and responsiveness.

Key Responsibilities

• Convert design concepts and wireframes into clean, efficient, and maintainable Android code.
• Develop, test, and sustain high-performance, reusable Java code aligned with Android SDK standards.
• Optimize application performance, ensuring superior quality and responsiveness across devices.
• Detect and resolve performance bottlenecks and fix software defects.
• Support codebase organization, quality assurance, and automation improvements.
• Manage deployment of application changes and releases to production environments.

Candidate Qualifications

• Possess a Polytechnic or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related disciplines; equivalent professional experience is acceptable.
• Have between three to five years of relevant Android development experience.

Technical Skills and Knowledge

• Demonstrated expertise in Android SDK, handling diverse Android versions, and adapting apps for various screen dimensions.
• Experience with offline data storage, multithreading, and fine-tuning performance.
• Capability to develop applications oriented around natural user interactions such as touch input.
• Experienced in integrating Android apps with back-end systems using RESTful APIs.
• Strong knowledge of Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices.
• Well-versed in the Android open-source ecosystem and commonly used libraries.
• Familiarity with biometric sensors like facial recognition, fingerprint scanning, or iris recognition is advantageous.
• Knowledge of Agile development processes.
• Ability to translate business needs into clear technical specifications.
• Experience working with cloud messaging services and push notification systems.
• Skilled in performance benchmarking and optimization techniques.
• Understanding of Google’s Android interface guidelines.
• Proficiency with version control systems such as Git and SVN.
• Experience with continuous integration pipelines.
• Strong communication abilities and a collaborative approach; flexibility in dynamic situations is essential.
