Job description
About the Role
DXC Technology is seeking a seasoned Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Architect based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with 10-12 years of professional experience. The role demands leading the complete architectural lifecycle of enterprise cloud solutions — from strategy formulation and design governance to technical assurance and ongoing optimization.
This position requires advanced expertise in OCI and the capacity to convert business, security, and operational needs into scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud architectures. The OCI Architect will act as a technical authority for complex cloud initiatives and guide engineering teams during implementation phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Define future-state OCI architectures aligned with company goals, compliance standards, and technology roadmaps.
- Set architecture principles, standards, reusable design patterns, and guardrails for OCI environments and tenancies.
- Lead architecture governance forums such as Architecture Review Boards, approving and reviewing design proposals.
- Create reference architectures, solution blueprints, and standardized design approaches across OCI services.
- Provide architectural oversight and technical assurance for delivery teams, including non-functional requirement assessments.
- Design OCI landing zones with multi-tenancy models, compartment hierarchies, tagging, IAM policies, and governance controls.
- Engineer hub-and-spoke VCN architectures, DRG transit, hybrid connectivity solutions like FastConnect and IPSec, and multi-region peering.
- Formulate security frameworks using OCI Cloud Guard, Security Zones, Vault, WAF, Bastion, and network segmentation strategies.
- Design data platforms incorporating Autonomous Database, Exadata Cloud Service, MySQL HeatWave, OCI Data Flow, and OCI Streaming.
- Develop monitoring and operations frameworks with OCI Monitoring, Logging Analytics, Application Performance Monitoring (APM), Management Agent, and third-party integrations (Datadog, Splunk, Grafana).
- Lead architecture efforts for extensive cloud migrations including sequencing, workload dependencies, and migration methodologies.
- Prepare foundational identity, network, security, and operational designs prior to migration commencement.
- Define database migration strategies employing OCI Database Migration Service, GoldenGate, Zero Downtime Migration, and Data Pump.
- Plan application modernization via containerization on OKE, serverless OCI Functions, or application refactoring.
- Design Kubernetes platforms on OKE, encompassing cluster topology, namespace governance, ingress setups, service mesh, and multi-cluster strategies.
- Architect CI/CD pipelines utilizing OCI DevOps, GitLab, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, and policies expressed as code.
- Establish Infrastructure as Code (IaC) standards covering Terraform modules, state handling, provider version management, pipelines, and OCI Resource Manager.
- Design event-driven and microservices-based architectures using OCI Streaming, Queue, Functions, and API Gateway.
- Architect OCI environments for Oracle applications such as E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, Fusion Middleware, and SOA Suite.
- Develop Oracle Database architectures integrating RAC, Data Guard, Autonomous Database, Exadata Cloud Service with architected high availability and disaster recovery based on Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture.
- Define cross-platform integration approaches combining Oracle Cloud Applications, OCI-hosted, and legacy workloads with tools like Oracle Integration Cloud and API Gateway.
- Implement FinOps by establishing cost governance models, showback/chargeback mechanisms, budget alerts using OCI Cost Analysis and Budgets.
- Optimize workload placement, right-sizing, and capacity for enhanced performance and cost effectiveness.
- Measure and track cloud efficiency metrics including utilization, cost per transaction, and avoidable spend.
- Engage senior technology and business stakeholders with architectural decisions, risk assessments, and recommendations.
- Contribute to proposals, RFPs, estimations, and technical presentations.
- Oversee architectural aspects of delivery, resolving complex design challenges.
- Mentor senior cloud engineers and support skill development in cloud architecture.
Must-Have Experience
- Minimum of 10 years in enterprise IT with at least 6 years dedicated to cloud architecture and 4 years specializing in OCI.
- Proven experience as lead or principal architect on significant OCI migration, greenfield deployment, or hybrid cloud initiatives.
- Deep mastery of OCI Compute, Networking, Storage, IAM, Database, and Security services.
- Practical expertise in designing OCI landing zones, multi-tenancy, and governance controls in enterprise environments.
- Strong skills in Terraform with OCI provider including module reuse, state management, and CI driven deployments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, GoldenGate, Autonomous Database, and Exadata Cloud Service.
- Experience designing Kubernetes orchestration platforms on OKE and building cloud-native applications.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks like TOGAF.
- Experienced in leading architecture governance, design reviews, and design authority processes.
- Ability to communicate complex technical decisions effectively to senior stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
- Certifications such as OCI Architect Professional, OCI Multi-Cloud Architect, OCI DevOps Professional.
- Additional certifications including TOGAF, AWS Solutions Architect Professional, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
- Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications and Oracle Integration Cloud.
- Competence in enterprise FinOps and cloud cost optimization strategies.
- Knowledge of policy and service mesh tools like OPA/Gatekeeper, HashiCorp Sentinel, Istio, Linkerd, ArgoCD, or Flux.
- Familiarity with Oracle Maximum Availability and Security Architectures.
- Experience in large scale migration tools such as Oracle Cloud Migrations or RackWare.
- Background in consulting, managed services, or systems integration environments.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess the capacity to establish clear technical directions for multifaceted OCI programs and lead teams throughout design and delivery phases. They will uphold strong architecture governance, hands-on Oracle workload knowledge, and articulate technical decisions concerning business impact, security, resilience, and cost-effectiveness.
