Specializing in Managed Infrastructure Services, Application Modernization, and Industry-Specific Software Solutions, DXC is committed to modernizing, securing, and managing some of the most complex global technology environments.
Role Overview
The Senior Engineering Manager will lead a skilled team to realize an AI-first, cloud-native managed services platform for global clientele. This position demands hands-on leadership with responsibilities ranging from translating the Chief Architect’s vision into production-quality code, to daily team management, tactical decision-making, and maintaining engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Turn architectural vision into high-quality, production-ready software delivery.
- Manage a team of 5 to 10 engineers—conduct one-on-ones, draft growth plans, handle performance reviews, recruitment, and foster team development.
- Maintain technical involvement through complex code reviews, collaborative debugging, and early issue detection.
- Mentor engineers at various levels to enhance their skills and progression towards leadership roles.
- Collaborate with the Technical Project Manager on sprint and delivery planning, providing accurate technical assessments.
- Oversee code review practice, promote architectural consistency, enforce testing, observability, and operational preparedness.
- Make informed tactical technical choices regarding implementation methods, libraries, and refactoring.
- Drive platform reliability including uptime, security, performance, incident management, and continuous improvement post-mortems.
- Cultivate a culture of engineering excellence and accountability.
Required Qualifications and Expertise
- Minimum 8 years in software engineering, with at least 3 years leading engineering teams in live production environments.
- Proven ability to operationalize technical direction from senior architects into tangible software products.
- Deep expertise in microservices, cloud-native architectures and API-first development methods.
- Proficiency with Python, GraphQL, RESTful APIs, SQL databases, and contemporary development tooling.
- Experience utilizing CI/CD pipelines, container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code, and integrating DevSecOps practices.
- Hands-on production experience with AWS or similar cloud infrastructure, ideally supporting multi-tenant SaaS platforms.
- Experience managing agile processes including sprint planning, estimation, capacity management, and using Jira or related tools.
- Strong capability in code reviews, spotting security vulnerabilities, design flaws, and quality issues proactively.
- Excellent communication skills for status reporting and direct, constructive feedback.
- Detail-focused with high accountability ensuring tasks and issues are handled reliably.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred Experience
- Leading small to medium engineering teams in dynamic, rapid-delivery settings.
- Development of enterprise-class SaaS or developer-centric platforms.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, service meshes such as Istio, and federated GraphQL.
- Exposure to AI/ML platforms, autonomous workflows, or LLM-integrated products.
- Experience managing distributed or remote engineering teams effectively.
- Strong knowledge of observability, monitoring, Site Reliability Engineering practices, and incident management.
- Track record of mentoring engineers toward senior and leadership positions.
Attributes and Leadership Style
- Deliberately hands-on leadership style, leading within the work rather than from above.
- Reliable operator with the focus and judgement to bring vision to fruition.
- A natural mentor committed to nurturing engineering talent.
- Consistently upholds high quality standards regardless of workload pressure.
- Decisive, with a clear understanding of architecture boundaries and escalation needs.
- Transparent and proactive communicator who candidly shares status, risks, and challenges.
- Collaborative mindset, partnering closely and effectively with project managers, architects, and product teams.
- Calm and composed during incidents, acting as a steady presence when urgent issues arise.
