Job Overview

The company focuses heavily on GIS and LiDAR technologies, working with extensive spatial and 3D datasets primarily for infrastructure and utility projects. We are seeking a Middle LiDAR Specialist to join our team in Canberra to contribute to projects involving aerial LiDAR and point cloud data analysis related to utility and power infrastructures.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Process and classify aerial LiDAR data.
  • Perform validation and quality assurance/quality control on point cloud data.
  • Extract and model utility assets including power lines, conductors, poles, towers, vegetation, and terrain features.

Required Qualifications

  • 1 to 4 years of professional experience in LiDAR and point cloud data processing.
  • Proficiency in point cloud classification and QA/QC methodologies.
  • Familiarity with 3D spatial data handling and management.
  • Competence in extracting features from LiDAR datasets.
  • Strong attention to detail and keen ability to detect quality concerns in spatial data.
  • Basic to intermediate understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience working with utility and power transmission or distribution datasets.
  • Background in aerial LiDAR data application.
  • Knowledge of components like conductors, poles/towers, vegetation, and ground classifications within LiDAR data.
  • Understanding of conductor/catenary physical modeling and clearance evaluations.
  • Familiarity with software such as PLS-CADD, TerraSolid/TerraScan, or MicroStation.
  • Experience in utility asset modeling and powerline mapping techniques.
