Job description

Role Overview

As a Mechanical Site Fitter at Glanua, you will play an integral part within a diverse engineering team, contributing to water and wastewater projects from conception through to client handover. You'll collaborate with leading industry professionals under a culture that values teamwork and personal skill development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate effectively in a team environment to deliver multiple projects simultaneously, embracing a one-team mindset.
  • Consistently apply Health, Safety, and Environmental protocols and guidelines.
  • Analyze and assess mechanical design documents and P&IDs early to identify potential challenges.
  • Install mechanical systems, pipework (from DN4mm to DN2000mm), and equipment on-site using various materials including PVC, DI, PE, and stainless steel.
  • Modify and fabricate mechanical components and systems as necessary.
  • Perform system testing such as pipework pressure tests and complete inspection test records (ITRs) upon installation completion.
  • Maintain, repair, strip down, and rebuild existing water/wastewater treatment apparatus.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and instrumentation to ensure operational status.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on installations.
  • Coordinate and manage plant shutdowns or flow diversions through appropriate permit-to-work processes with project teams and customers.
  • Ensure all work adheres to corporate mechanical and safety standards.
  • Complete necessary safety checks and permit requirements for ongoing work activities.
  • Foster professional and cooperative relationships with clients and stakeholders to ensure positive engagement.
  • Provide feedback on installation processes, contributing innovations and lessons learned to improve future projects.
  • Stay current with emerging industry standards and technologies through continuous professional development (CPD).
  • Demonstrate willingness to advance career capabilities while mentoring junior personnel. The company supports career growth through training and promotion.
  • Perform additional relevant duties as required.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of two years’ professional experience in similar mechanical roles, preferably within the water and wastewater sector.
  • Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter, Fabricator, or Maintenance Mechanical Fitter.
  • Proven expertise in installing mechanical systems and equipment, including pipework made from stainless steel, PVC, PE, and ductile iron.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including the ability to dismantle, repair, and rebuild components.
  • Desire to build a career within a renowned and innovative engineering organisation.
  • Capacity to contribute effectively as a team member and actively participate in project meetings.
  • Ability to liaise with suppliers and subcontractors throughout procurement and project phases.
  • Good problem-solving ability and adaptability to challenges occurring during project execution.
  • Excellent communication skills paired with a high degree of motivation.
  • Possession of a valid full driving license.
