Key Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical components, assemblies, and product solutions tailored for consumer products.
• Convert product requirements into actionable engineering designs emphasizing performance, quality, cost-efficiency, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Formulate and assess design concepts while managing trade-offs to provide optimal solutions.
• Utilize Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) methodologies throughout product development stages.
• Create and evaluate 3D CAD models, detailed 2D engineering drawings, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance stack-up analyses, and related documentation.
• Construct, test, and support prototype components, test rigs, and engineering samples.
• Define and assist in product verification and validation procedures.
• Analyze testing data to diagnose design challenges, determine root causes, and implement corrective measures.
• Participate actively in technical and design reviews as well as project meetings.
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including design, quality control, manufacturing, procurement, suppliers, and international engineering units.
• Contribute towards ongoing product enhancement by incorporating design learnings, maintaining technical documents, and following industry best practices.

Work Experience and Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Product Development, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Between three and six years of professional experience in mechanical design, product development, or similar engineering positions.
• Expertise in designing components with plastics, rubber, metals, or mechanical assemblies.
• Strong grasp of DFM and DFA principles.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD modelling, 2D technical drafting, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up assessment.
• Capability to translate technical specifications into practical engineering outputs.
• Experience in supporting prototype creation, testing, and design validation activities.
• Problem-solving aptitude with a data-driven approach towards analyzing issues and finding root causes.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced product development environment.
• Effective communication skills and competence in managing stakeholder relationships.
• Aptitude to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within multifunctional teams.
• Strong enthusiasm for learning, creative thinking, and a passion for engineering innovations.

Preferred Experience

• Background in consumer product design or environments with high-volume manufacturing.
• Familiarity with processes including plastics fabrication, rubber components, sheet metal work, die-casting, and injection moulding.
• Knowledge of product testing methods, industrial measurement techniques, and supplier collaboration practices.
• Understanding of specialized topics such as thermals, acoustics, fluid dynamics, mechanical mechanisms, electronics integration, or human factors engineering.
• Experience collaborating with global engineering teams and external development organizations.
