Role Summary and Responsibilities

As a Meat Clerk, you'll be responsible for receiving, rotating, wrapping, and merchandising fresh and processed meat products. Your duties also include assisting with merchandising seafood, rotisserie chickens, prepared foods, and cheeses. Providing exceptional customer service by responding to member inquiries and recommending products is central to this role. Maintaining cleanliness and safety standards in the meat department is essential.

Customer Service and Club Standards

• Deliver exemplary service to members at every interaction point.
• Handle member concerns effectively, including de-escalation when necessary.
• Create a welcoming, secure environment ensuring positive experiences.
• Commit daily to GOLD Member Standards including Greeting, Anticipating, Appreciating (GAA).
• Maintain clean, stocked, and arranged product displays with accurate signage.
• Collaborate as a team to achieve the club’s GRAND Opening look and other standards.

Key Duties

• Answer member questions about meats, poultry, and seafood while providing product recommendations.
• Weigh, package, wrap, label various cuts including ground meat and assist in meat cutting operations.
• Inspect deliveries to ensure quality meets company standards and properly store products.
• Maintain fully stocked and rotated cases according to expiration policies and dispose of defective products correctly.
• Unload and organize incoming meat, seafood, prepared foods, and cheeses in coolers and freezers.
• Clean and sanitize equipment, display fixtures, and the meat department’s refrigerated areas regularly.
• Comply with all club policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned, including support in other departments when needed.
• Demonstrate consistent, reliable attendance as a core job function.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous experience with fresh and processed meats is preferred.
• Familiarity with automatic and hand wrapping machines is advantageous.
• Background working in meat or deli departments is a plus.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Working Conditions

• Frequent movement on hard surfaces with occasional bending, reaching, pulling, and stooping required for product handling and examination.
• Regular lifting up to 30 pounds is expected; heavier or awkward lifting may require assistance.
• The work environment is primarily indoors with occasional exposure to temperature fluctuations, noise, and cleaning agents.

Compensation

The estimated pay range for this position is $16.75 to $20.10 per hour. Actual pay will vary based on factors like location, education, experience, and qualifications.
