Job Overview

The Meat Clerk role involves receiving, rotating, wrapping, and organizing both fresh and processed meats, along with merchandising seafood, rotisserie chickens, prepared foods, and cheeses. This position ensures excellent customer service by assisting members with inquiries and product recommendations while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety within the meat department.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer members’ questions and suggest suitable meat, poultry, and seafood products.
• Weigh, package, wrap, and label meat and seafood items; assist meat cutters and potentially grind hamburger meat.
• Inspect incoming meat deliveries to ensure company quality standards are met.
• Keep meat, seafood, prepared foods, and cheese displays fully stocked and rotate products according to expiration dates, disposing of damaged or expired goods as per guidelines.
• Receive and unpack meat and related items in coolers and freezers.
• Clean and sanitize all meat department equipment, display cases, and storage areas regularly.
• Adhere to club policies and procedures and assist in other departments if needed.
• Maintain consistent, reliable attendance as an essential job function.

Qualifications and Preferences

• Prior experience handling fresh and processed meats is preferred.
• Familiarity with automatic and hand wrapping machines is advantageous.
• Experience in meat and deli departments is preferred.
• Candidates must be at least 18 years old.

Working Conditions

• Majority of the role involves frequent movement on hard floors requiring bending, lifting, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
• Regular lifting of objects up to 30 pounds; occasionally may lift heavier items with assistance.
• Work is performed indoors with limited exposure to temperature changes, occasional loud noises, and potential contact with cleaning agents.

Compensation

The estimated starting wage for this position is $16.25 per hour. Actual wages may vary based on location, experience, and qualifications, reflecting a commitment to non-discriminatory salary determination.
