Material Controller / Material Coordinator – Piping

Overview

We are searching for a skilled Material Controller / Material Coordinator specializing in piping to oversee the entire lifecycle of piping materials. The role focuses on ensuring materials are safely and promptly available for fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair activities within projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate material requests and reservations in SAP based on authorized project Material Take-Off (MTO) data.
• Compile and maintain essential material records such as Material Traceability Control Documents (MTCD) and MTO forms.
• Liaise effectively with Procurement, Supply Chain, and Warehouse departments to guarantee timely material delivery and retrieval.
• Inspect and verify incoming piping materials against packing lists, purchase orders, technical specifications, quantities, and quality standards.
• Ensure correct segregation and storage methods for efficient identification and traceability of materials.
• Maintain precise material master data, registers, and associated documentation.
• Apply color-coding protocols to long-lead materials to align with project specifications.
• Implement proper storage procedures including separation of ferrous and non-ferrous items and use of elevated platforms.
• Distribute materials to projects in accordance with authorized requests, maintaining detailed issue logs.
• Track material usage, foreseeing shortages, surplus stock, or availability challenges.
• Collaborate with project, engineering, procurement, warehouse, and site teams to address and resolve material-related challenges.
• Guarantee traceability of all materials throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide support to piping fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair by ensuring material readiness as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related disciplines.
• Work experience in material control/co-ordination with a focus on piping, preferably in oil & gas, EPC, or industrial project environments.
• Practical knowledge of piping materials and familiarity with Material Take-Off (MTO) processes.
• Proficiency in using SAP for material request handling, reservation, inventory management, or tracking.
• Comprehensive understanding of material receipt, inspection, storage, issuance, and traceability practices.
• Familiarity with Material Traceability Control Documents (MTCD) and related documentation standards.
• Knowledgeable about piping material specifications, certification requirements, and project compliance criteria.
• Strong organizational capabilities and meticulous record-keeping skills.
• Excellent communication and coordination aptitude.
• Adept at managing multiple concurrent material demands to meet project timelines.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
