Maintenance Planning Officer

About the Role

The Mackay Regional Council is inviting applications for a skilled Maintenance Planning Officer to be part of the Facilities & Open Spaces Program team. This is a permanent full-time position that includes participation in an on-call rotation, with an on-call allowance applicable.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating both reactive and preventative maintenance for the Council's building and community facilities. Approximately half of the role is office-based and requires effective collaboration with internal stakeholders, contractors, and operations teams to ensure maintenance work is carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Familiarity with maintenance management systems like Assetic is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize and oversee maintenance activities and projects for Council assets.
• Manage and coordinate contractors, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and compliance standards.
• Interpret technical documents, plans, and specifications related to building maintenance and construction.
• Utilize computer systems for work management and reporting purposes.
• Participate in an on-call roster providing timely responses to maintenance needs.

Candidate Profile

This role suits a hands-on and organised individual with experience in building maintenance and contractor management. You must enjoy prioritizing workloads, resolving challenges, and delivering excellent maintenance results. Reliability, attention to detail, and a solution-oriented approach are key attributes.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possess a relevant trade qualification or have demonstrated experience in a trade.
• Have at least two years of industry experience.
• Hold a current Queensland Construction Industry White Card.
• Maintain current First Aid and CPR certifications.
• Hold or be capable of obtaining a Queensland "C" Class Driver Licence.
• Demonstrate computer proficiency, particularly with maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office.
• Commit to joining the on-call roster.

Desirable Attributes

• Project management qualification.
• Previous experience within a Local Government setting.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base annual salary ranging from $82,413 to $84,263.
• Superannuation contributions up to 18%, conditions apply.
