Position Overview
Join the passionate Water and Wastewater Treatment Team at Mackay Regional Council as a full-time Water Treatment Plant Operator. Play an essential role in managing water and sewage services across the Mackay region, contributing to our reputation for delivering some of the highest quality water in Queensland and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
- Effectively operate and maintain eleven water supply systems, four sewerage networks, and three recycled water schemes.
- Manage treatment plant processes including coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection to maintain drinking water quality per Australian standards.
- Operate critical process plants and disinfection systems to ensure safe potable water supply.
- Respond to after-hours calls, providing on-call support across the Mackay region.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Hold a current Queensland 'C' class Driver's license.
- Certificate III in Water Industry Operations - Water stream.
- General Construction Safety White Card certification.
- Certification in self-contained breathing apparatus usage.
- Proven experience operating water treatment assets with strong knowledge of water treatment processes and groundwater systems.
- Current First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain it.
- Preparedness to undertake Certificate III in Water Industry Operations - Wastewater stream training.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary range of $90,000 to $101,000, dependent on skills and qualifications.
