About the Role
We seek a Maintenance Engineer to join our Pacific site located near Hastings. In this role, you will deliver critical engineering support by maintaining processing machinery to ensure it is safe, reliable, and efficient. Your responsibilities will include performing scheduled maintenance, reacting promptly to breakdowns, and assisting with equipment installation projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on processing machinery
- Respond rapidly and safely to equipment failures to reduce downtime
- Assist with the installation of new machinery and plant enhancements
- Collaborate closely with supervisors and operators to troubleshoot and resolve issues
- Adhere strictly to food safety, health, and safety protocols
Work Schedule
The position follows a rotating shift pattern covering days and nights with a 45-hour workweek:
- Monday to Friday: 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM and 3:45 PM – 12:45 AM
- Includes occasional overtime and weekend shifts
About You
You must be a trade-qualified engineer experienced in industrial or food production maintenance. Practical knowledge of mechanical systems, plant operations reliability, and safety procedures are essential. We value strong problem-solving aptitude, a proactive mindset, and teamwork skills. Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and basic electrical abilities are advantageous.
Candidate Qualifications
- Relevant trade certification in mechanics, fitting, maintenance, or related field
- Proven industrial maintenance experience, ideally within FMCG or food production environments
- Understanding of pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyor mechanisms, and general mechanical equipment
- Excellent troubleshooting and fault-finding skills, especially under pressure
- Experience with CMMS platforms and basic computer competence preferred
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and cooperative team engagement
