Maintenance Electrician

Position Overview

Silver Fern Farms, located in Te Aroha, Waikato, New Zealand, is currently seeking a skilled and motivated Maintenance Electrician to become part of our dynamic engineering team. This role entails hands-on involvement in electrical reliability enhancements, repairs, and ongoing maintenance responsibilities within a robust and progressive maintenance environment.

Working Hours and Environment

The maintenance team operates 45 hours weekly according to a rotating two-week schedule, from Monday to Friday. Day shifts run between 5am and 4pm, while night shifts take place from 2:30pm to 2am. Role Responsibilities and Opportunities

The successful candidate will be actively engaged in projects involving the installation of new equipment across the site and will cover a broad range of electrical applications specific to the industrial food processing environment. This role is ideal for someone looking to apply their electrical expertise within one of New Zealand's leading food exporting companies.

Candidate Profile

While prior experience in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) or similar production settings is advantageous, the essential qualities include strong teamwork skills, sharp fault identification abilities, and analytic problem-solving capacities that ensure high-quality service to the processing plant. The position may require working autonomously but remains integrated within the maintenance team. Effective communication and an innovative mindset to address and resolve root-cause issues efficiently are highly valued.

Qualifications and Skills

• Possession of a relevant Trades Qualification alongside full New Zealand Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) certification.
• Strong foundation in electrical principles, with experience or enthusiasm to maintain and repair in a large-scale industrial processing environment.
• Familiarity with PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) and Variable Speed Drives (VSDs) from previous roles.
• Capability to assess challenges and craft timely, practical solutions, with the ability to communicate these effectively.
• Self-driven with the ability to work independently and collaborate within a close-knit engineering support team.
• Organizational skills to manage and prioritize workload efficiently while leading by example in a demanding engineering setting.
• A commitment to continual learning and professional development, potentially extending into leadership, refrigeration trades, or project design.
