Maintenance Assistant (Non-Union)

About the Role

Join Sienna Senior Living as a Maintenance Assistant at the Silverthorn Community in Mississauga, Ontario. This permanent full-time position provides an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the well-being and comfort of residents by performing essential maintenance tasks that support a safe and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general repair and upkeep activities including painting, plastering, basic plumbing tasks such as faucet replacement and unclogging toilets, woodworking like installing doors and moldings, and non-licensed electrical jobs like changing light bulbs.
• Maintain cleanliness and appearance of hallways, stairways, and common areas by cleaning, scrubbing, stripping and waxing floors according to instructions.
• Regularly empty garbage and recycling bins to prevent waste buildup, ensuring proper storage of recyclable materials.
• Upkeep of exterior property including grounds and parking lots, encompassing tasks such as mowing, watering grass, tending flower gardens, and fertilizing.
• Snow removal from sidewalks and entrances, and application of salt to maintain safe walkways in winter conditions.
• Complete required documentation and reports to support follow-up and compliance.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned to support the community maintenance team.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Certification, training, and practical experience in areas such as building repairs, painting, floor care, property maintenance, plumbing, and HVAC operations.
• Between 1 to 2 years of experience in a comparable maintenance role.
• Strong customer service orientation and excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written.
• Good knowledge of operational and maintenance procedures for equipment used within residential settings.
• Capability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check for Ontario applicants, or Criminal Records Check for British Columbia applicants, as mandated.
