Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer

Role Overview

As a Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer at Kyndryl, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the IBM CICS Transaction Server environment, ensuring high availability and efficient transaction processing in mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer IBM CICS Transaction Server including CICSPlex SM, overseeing CICS region management and transaction processing.
• Perform performance tuning, handle recovery management, diagnose issues, analyze dumps, and resolve problems efficiently.
• Integrate CICS with essential subsystems such as IBM MQ, DB2, RACF, and z/OS.
• Maintain knowledge and application of high-availability configurations, workload management, and mission-critical transaction processing.
• Work with Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019, VMware ESX, and public/private cloud setups, including cloud migration projects from on-premise environments.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Hands-on experience with CICSPlex SM operations, CICS upgrades, migration tasks, maintenance, and release control.
• Familiarity with tools like OMEGAMON for CICS, CICS Explorer, JCL, SMP/E, and scripting using REXX.
• Understanding of Parallel Sysplex architecture, workload balancing, disaster recovery strategies, and resilience design.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes related to Incident, Problem, and Change Management.
• Exposure to automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), vulnerability management, Active Directory, and ADFS.
• Strong problem-solving skills, excellent documentation abilities, effective communication, and collaboration capabilities across teams.
