We are looking for a highly experienced Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead transformative projects that enhance video personalization. This technical leadership role involves designing and implementing sophisticated algorithms and scalable systems to advance our personalization methods while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.

This position operates on a hybrid work model based in the Toronto office.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the creation, development, and deployment of advanced recommendation algorithms designed for a worldwide audience.
• Perform in-depth analysis and enhancement of algorithmic components to ensure models achieve optimal scalability and performance across different regions and product lines.
• Develop and maintain robust machine learning pipelines encompassing data gathering, feature extraction, model training, evaluation, and deployment.
• Ongoing assessment and tuning of live machine learning models to meet business objectives and deliver superior user engagement quality.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to align machine learning initiatives with product requirements and expectations.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of eight years' professional experience building and deploying production machine learning systems.
• Advanced degree (MSc or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, or a closely related discipline.
• Solid expertise in deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch, particularly applied to recommendation systems.
• Proficiency in constructing end-to-end machine learning pipelines covering data extraction, mining, feature engineering, model training, testing, and deployment.
• Strong foundation in statistical techniques including hypothesis testing, regression, and evaluation metrics relevant to machine learning models.
• Capability to deeply analyze individual system components while understanding the broader architecture of machine learning solutions.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary ranges depend on education, skills, experience, and location as follows:

• Staff level: CAD 168,000 to 307,000 per year
• Principal level: CAD 202,000 to 309,000 per year

The role also qualifies for an annual discretionary bonus, long-term incentive plan, and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, insurance, vacation/paid time off, and other employee benefits according to applicable plan policies.
