Role Overview

The Forward Deployed Engineer will develop advanced models that optimize complex operational systems. This role combines scientific machine learning, time-series analysis, optimization, and real-world system deployment. Collaboration with founding members, industrial clients, and data teams will help convert early validations into scalable technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, train, and deploy machine learning models tailored for sophisticated operational environments.
• Manage sparse, irregular, and noisy time-series datasets from industrial settings.
• Integrate data-driven approaches with physical and operational rules within model construction.
• Create reusable model components adaptable across multiple locations and applications.
• Transition prototypes into production in coordination with product and engineering teams.
• Assess model accuracy, robustness, and reliability under practical conditions.
• Engage with customers to comprehend operational data contexts.
• Support the platform's technical strategy as an early machine learning team member.

Candidate Profile

• PhD-level education in machine learning, computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, applied mathematics, operations research, or a related STEM discipline from a leading university.
• Proficient with Python for machine learning development, preferably experienced with PyTorch, JAX, or similar frameworks.
• Expertise in scientific machine learning, physics-informed models, time-series analysis, optimization, simulation, forecasting, or probabilistic modeling.
• Experience handling real-world data challenges such as missing data, distribution shifts, noise, and variable quality.
• Strong interest in applying ML techniques to physical and industrial operational challenges.
• Commitment to working onsite from the London office 4-5 days per week, with occasional UK site visits.

Preferred Qualifications

• Track record deploying machine learning solutions in production environments.
• Background in optimization, simulations, control systems, or operations research.
• Familiarity with industrial or operational data ecosystems.
• Experience with Bayesian methods, multi-fidelity datasets, symbolic regression, interpretable modeling, or reinforcement learning.
• Relevant publications or research in scientific machine learning or applied optimization.
