The Machine Learning team at Tubi is at the forefront of creating personalized user experiences for an audience of hundreds of millions, with the industry's largest content inventory. The team tackles challenges involving recommendations, search, content comprehension, and advertising optimizations, shaping the streaming industry's future.

We are searching for a Director to lead our hybrid Machine Learning Engineering and Infrastructure team. You will be responsible for setting and executing the strategic direction to scale our ML capabilities while ensuring that our distributed infrastructure effectively supports large-scale innovation. This leadership role requires a blend of deep technical expertise and strong managerial skills to oversee teams that produce foundational ML systems and high-performance distributed services.

This position is located in our Toronto office with a hybrid working arrangement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop high-achieving teams in ML engineering and infrastructure, fostering innovation, teamwork, and continuous growth.
• Create and implement strategic roadmaps for ML systems that cover recommendations, personalization, and advertising optimization.
• Manage the architecture, development, and deployment of scalable machine learning pipelines, including data ingestion, feature engineering, model training, evaluation, and serving.
• Design and oversee distributed systems that support large-scale ML workloads with a focus on reliability, monitoring, and operational excellence.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Content teams to align initiatives with business objectives and build impactful machine learning-driven solutions.
• Promote best practices in ML experimentation, evaluation techniques, and system monitoring.
• Ensure investments in ML infrastructure optimize cost-efficiency, scalability, and system performance.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Over 10 years of professional experience in machine learning engineering and distributed systems.
• At least 3 years of leadership experience, demonstrated by successfully building and guiding technical teams.
• A master's or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proven success in building and deploying end-to-end machine learning systems at scale, particularly recommendation and personalization platforms.
• Expertise in distributed systems architecture such as low-latency services, streaming frameworks, and large-scale serving environments.
• Hands-on knowledge of deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch and ML infrastructure tools.
• History of delivering scalable, resilient, and high-quality systems.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence both product and technical directions.
• Experience deploying large-scale serving systems on AWS and leveraging Databricks for extensive data processing and machine learning workflows.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual salary range for this role in Toronto is CAD $188,200 to $268,900, with the final amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location.

The position also qualifies for an annual discretionary bonus, long-term incentive plan, and benefits including medical, dental, vision coverage, insurance, paid vacation, and other perks as outlined by Tubi's employee plans.
