Job description
Project Overview
We are seeking an experienced C++ developer to build and enhance high-performance, low-latency software applications that process extensive real-time data streams. This role involves optimizing every system aspect, from algorithms and data structures to networking and operating system interactions, where microsecond-level responsiveness and high throughput are critical.
Core Responsibilities
- Architect, develop, and maintain high-throughput C++ services capable of managing high message rates and demanding low latency workloads.
- Enhance existing software components focusing on reducing latency, increasing throughput, and improving CPU and memory usage efficiency.
- Develop and optimize networking, messaging, and input/output layers to ensure reliable handling of large data volumes.
- Conduct profiling and resolve performance bottlenecks across application, OS, and network layers.
- Collaborate closely with quantitative analysts, trading teams, and infrastructure groups to convert business needs into effective and durable technical solutions.
- Produce clean, production-ready code supported by thorough testing and detailed documentation.
- Engage actively in code reviews, architectural discussions, and initiatives aimed at continual engineering process improvements.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Strong command of contemporary C++ standards (C++17, C++20, or newer).
- Proven background working with Market Data systems.
- Deep knowledge of concurrency mechanisms and synchronization techniques, including lock-free/low-lock strategies, atomic operations, and memory models.
- Hands-on experience developing performance-critical real-time or low-latency systems, such as in networking, trading platforms, telemetry, or gaming engines.
- Solid foundation in computer science essentials—data structures, algorithms, memory management, and code optimization.
- Expertise in Linux system-level programming, including socket programming, epoll/select mechanisms, multithreading, memory management, and CPU affinity configuration.
- Familiarity with performance analysis and profiling tools like perf, valgrind, flame graphs, and other CPU/memory profilers.
- Competence with source control using Git and build automation tools such as CMake and Ninja.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail suited for dynamic, high-pressure environments.
Desirable Qualifications
- Knowledge of advanced networking technologies such as kernel bypass or user-space networking frameworks (DPDK, RDMA, VMA, Solarflare/OpenOnload).
- Experience in financial market infrastructure including market data distribution, order routing, or exchange connectivity.
- Understanding of prevalent market data protocols (FIX, MDP, ITCH, and proprietary exchange feeds).
- Exposure to multicast networking, low latency communication, and precise clock synchronization techniques like PTP.
- Skills in hardware-conscious optimizations including NUMA, cache tuning, SIMD/vectorization, and CPU pinning.
- Experience with telemetry and monitoring solutions for high-performance systems, utilizing latency histograms, throughput metrics, and SLA tracking.
- Capability with scripting languages such as Python and Bash to support tooling and automation efforts.
- Proficiency in KDB+ database technologies and data analysis using Python libraries like PyTorch, pandas, and Arrow.
