About the Role

Stake Center Locating is seeking motivated entry-level Utility Locate Technicians based in Abilene, Texas. This role involves identifying and marking underground utilities to help prevent infrastructure damage in the community. New hires receive comprehensive, fully paid on-the-job training, equipping them with essential skills to perform accurate utility locates.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly salary starting at $21.00.

Key Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety in all job functions.
• Utilize laptops to manage, document, and process locate tickets and communications.
• Interpret maps and blueprints to plan the most effective locating approach and sequence.
• Operate specialized locating technology and equipment to determine utility locations accurately.
• Maintain clear communication with team members, supervisors, and property owners.

Qualifications and Requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Physical capability to walk up to 5 miles several times per week.
• Ability to carry up to 5 pounds of electronic locating devices for extended periods; lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds manually or more with assistance.
• Successful completion of pre-employment background checks and drug tests.

Work Schedule and Conditions

• Flexible working hours including some evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays as workload demands.
• Participation in an on-call rotation to respond to emergency locate requests.
