Team Overview

The Learning and Development (L&D) Department is essential in empowering staff across all functions to excel by providing necessary skills, knowledge, and support. The team includes a Learning & Development Manager heading the group, a Technical Trainer, and two Training Administrators. Together, they create, implement, and coordinate various training programs, from compliance and technical training to onboarding and professional growth. Their focus is to nurture a culture of ongoing learning, supporting both individual advancement and organisational growth to meet evolving project and client needs.

Role Summary

The Learning & Development Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring all employee training, qualifications, competency frameworks, and development paths comply with legal, regulatory, client, and industry standards within Alternative Heat’s manufacturing, engineering, and site operations. The position designs and executes structured learning and skill enhancement initiatives as well as career development frameworks tailored to specific business units. It involves close collaboration with senior management to identify skill gaps, assist in succession strategies, and drive professional development linked to organisational goals.

The manager guarantees compliance with legislation, safety protocols, ISO standards, and sector certifications relevant to Construction and MEP industries. They develop, implement, and continuously oversee compliance-driven and developmental training programs, ensuring workforce competence, certification validity, readiness for audits, and surpassing required training standards across all company sites and units.

This role demands strong leadership, technical and compliance training expertise, and the capability to manage training, development, and competencies across multiple business areas—offsite fabrication, site installation, commissioning, and support services—while fostering career growth and talent development within assigned divisions.

Working Hours

Monday to Thursday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensure comprehensive compliance with all regulatory, statutory, and industry training mandates across construction, manufacturing, and site operations.
  • Manage a structured training system encompassing mandatory certifications and maintain a centralised compliance matrix aligned with ISO standards, health and safety regulations, and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with key departments to deliver technical and operational training, guaranteeing employee readiness and adherence to current legislation and best practices.
  • Maintain precise training records, monitor compliance performance, and identify potential risks to ensure audit preparedness.
  • Support employee growth through defined learning pathways and career progression frameworks.
  • Lead the L&D team and engage with stakeholders and external training providers to assure consistent quality and continual enhancement across the organisation.
