About the Role
At PwC, the risk and compliance team focuses on helping clients manage regulatory requirements and risks by offering expert advice and tailored solutions. The independence, ethics, and business conduct team specifically fosters adherence to ethical standards and promotes a culture of integrity throughout the organisation. In this role, you will be responsible for creating and implementing policies and processes to ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory mandates.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a member of the Global Independence Assurance (IA) Center of Excellence, supporting Independence Assessments that shape PwC's network strategy and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Provide consultation on independence assessments by responding to inquiries, both formal and informal, and advising client service teams accordingly.
- Stay informed of the latest developments in independence regulations by engaging actively with the Global IA community and completing mandatory training.
- Collaborate with global and local contacts to exchange information on independence matters, share best practices, and contribute to decision-making processes.
- Facilitate communication and training dissemination regarding Independence Assessment knowledge across XLOS firm personnel.
- Support the Independence Office by addressing additional consultation requests outside of assessments and guiding client service teams.
- Liaise with other functional teams such as Risk Management and ARQ to develop integrated, high-quality services for the firm.
- Participate in business operation transformation efforts by assessing technological advancements, contributing to global projects including SDC and COE, and assisting in strategy development and change management.
- Coach and develop Independence Office team members and participate in webinars and training sessions related to independence.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Experience in a management position with working knowledge of PwC's service offerings.
- Deep understanding of independence rules across multiple jurisdictions, including SEC, UK Public Interest Entities (PIE), EU PIE, and PwC Global Independence Policy restrictions.
- Proven capability in managing complex entity structures such as private equity arrangements and investment companies.
- Extensive familiarity with firm-specific and Canadian independence regulations.
- Strong commercial insight to coordinate with local and global XLOS teams effectively.
- Sound technical expertise in interpreting and applying independence standards.
- Canadian CPA designation or an equivalent recognized certification is advantageous but not mandatory.

The salary range for this position goes from $81,900 to $131,900 annually. These figures represent typical hiring ranges within major Canadian city centres; compensation may vary by location. Base pay is determined based on skills, experience, credentials, and work location. Eligible employees can also participate in variable incentive programs rewarding both individual and firm-wide achievements. PwC Canada is committed to pay transparency and competitive compensation.
