Lead Site Reliability Engineer, Electronic Trading Services

Role Overview

Join a leading global financial institution and play a pivotal role shaping the future of site reliability engineering within Electronic Trading Services. As a Lead Site Reliability Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within Infrastructure Platforms, you will spearhead technical leadership efforts, guide resiliency design reviews, break down complex technical challenges for your engineering team, and mentor peers towards excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Champion site reliability engineering principles and cultivate this culture within your team.
• Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing application and platform reliability by utilizing data-driven insights to elevate service performance.
• Collaborate to define service level indicators, objectives, and error budgets in partnership with stakeholders and customers.
• Possess strong expertise in multiple technical areas, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
• Serve as the primary contact during major incidents, quickly diagnosing and resolving issues to mitigate financial impacts.
• Contribute to organizational knowledge by documenting practices and sharing expertise through internal forums.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or a related field.
• Over five years of formal experience or certification supporting critical security-sensitive applications in large-scale environments.
• Mastery of reliability, scalability, performance optimization, security, enterprise architecture, and toil reduction, with proven ability to apply these site reliability best practices.
• Proficient in at least one programming language such as Python, Java Spring Boot, or .Net, alongside experience with low latency networks in Electronic Trading Services.
• In-depth understanding of software applications and emerging expertise in technical domains.
• Skilled in observability practices including white and black box monitoring, implementing SLO alerting, and telemetry collection, utilizing tools like Grafana, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Datadog, and Splunk.
• Experience with continuous integration and deployment pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, and Terraform.
• Familiarity with container technologies and orchestration platforms like ECS, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Competence in troubleshooting networking technologies and associated issues.
• Strong motivation for self-learning of new technologies and the capability to teach these advancements to team members.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with network hardware from Arista, Cisco, F5, and Fortinet.
• Knowledge of network automation tools such as Ansible.
• Experience with packet capture and analysis tools, including Corvil and Wireshark.
