Job Overview

This role as a Software Engineer II at JPMorganChase within the Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) Payments team offers an opportunity to develop your professional skills and progress within your career. You will be part of an agile development team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining software components of the firm's advanced technology products, ensuring they are secure, reliable, and scalable. The payments platform is transitioning from private cloud Kubernetes to AWS, providing an exciting environment to work with cutting-edge cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop, design, and troubleshoot software components while considering integration with other system parts and their technical impacts.
• Create high-quality, secure code using at least one programming language with some guidance.
• Utilize Software Development Life Cycle tools to enhance automation benefits.
• Apply technical troubleshooting skills to resolve moderately complex issues.
• Analyze large and diverse datasets to identify problems and support informed decision-making for secure and stable application development.
• Leverage enterprise-approved AI-assisted coding tools to improve code quality, expedite delivery, and boost productivity, ensuring outputs are verified via peer reviews, automated tests, and secure coding standards.
• Continuously learn and apply best practices related to secure and stable software and system development.
• Contribute to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and respectful team culture.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Practical hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, and maintaining operational stability.
• Proven experience developing, debugging, and supporting code in enterprise environments using modern programming languages and database query languages.
• Familiarity with distributed technologies such as Kafka for messaging and NoSQL databases like Cassandra or MongoDB.
• Ability to collaborate with high-performing cross-functional teams within the organization to meet shared objectives.
• Comprehensive experience covering the entire Software Development Life Cycle.
• Hands-on use of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools for coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation, with the skill to critically assess AI outputs.
• Understanding of ethical AI implementation in engineering processes, including considerations for data sensitivity, secure data handling, and compliance with resiliency and security standards.
• Exposure to agile development methodologies including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), application resiliency, and security practices.
• Foundational knowledge and experience with software applications and technical processes in areas such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile technologies.
• Strong proficiency in object-oriented programming concepts, design patterns, and experience in Java and the Spring framework are essential.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with cloud platforms and developing cloud-native applications.
• Understanding of payment systems, core cash management functions, key processing cut-off times, and payment processing flows is desirable.
