Lead Mechanical Engineer

Overview

The Lead Mechanical Engineer plays a critical leadership role within the company, responsible for delivering technical direction, expertise, and oversight in all aspects of mechanical engineering to ensure projects are executed successfully. This position involves leading a mechanical engineering team, collaborating closely with other departments, and driving the design and development of mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical support regarding mechanical engineering activities for potential investments, including defining phases, scope, budget, quality standards, and timelines.
• Assist the Investment Implementation Department with procurement, investment control, and commercial duties related to mechanical engineering aspects.
• Offer technical guidance to headquarters and site teams following contractual terms, ensuring appropriate measures are taken for work performance.
• Act as the authorized representative in dealings involving mechanical engineering activities with clients and third parties, including participation in negotiations.
• Deliver technical, operational, and managerial leadership to facilitate successful investment development and execution.
• Monitor all investment implementations to ensure alignment with original mechanical engineering plans and forecasts.
• Create and oversee operational systems and processes that provide clarity on goals, progress, and challenges for key initiatives.
• Plan, monitor, and evaluate key performance indicators to guarantee efficient and timely task completion.
• Manage stakeholder communications and requirements, primarily involving clients, joint venture members, and lead entities on mechanical engineering matters.
• Ensure that mechanical engineering activities comply with company policies, procedures, relevant legislation, and professional standards.
• Take accountability for investment budgets and technical baseline development.
• Support decision-making by preparing consolidated reports addressing challenges, risks, and mitigation plans associated with mechanical engineering.
• Collaborate with functional managers during the development, implementation, and operational phases at both headquarters and sites.
• Review and approve all mechanical design activities related to investments.
• Manage risks associated with mechanical engineering aspects of investments to prevent delays or harm to reputation.
• Promote and participate in health, safety, and environmental initiatives, including safety awareness and incident reporting, in line with company and IMS policies.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 8 years of work experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role relevant to mechanical engineering.
• Proficiency in CAD software and other relevant technical tools is essential.
• Deep understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong problem-solving capabilities and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Capability to oversee multiple projects concurrently.
• Knowledge of ERP systems, preferably SAP functional expertise, is required for success in this role.
