Lead Investigator

Overview

This role involves assisting the line manager in conducting investigations into breaches of the Code of Ethics, including fraud and noncompliance with Qatar Airways Group regulations, policies, standards, and procedures. Investigations are to be conducted objectively, promptly, and in accordance with international standards, best practices, and applicable legal requirements. The role also supports the management of the Company's whistleblowing program (Speak Up) aligned with the approved business ethics and integrity framework.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the line manager in overseeing Speak Up channels to monitor, review allegations, and provide feedback to whistleblowers.
• Collaborate with Qatar Airways Group HR, Employee Relations, Legal, and other stakeholders related to investigations.
• Contribute to awareness campaigns to promote fraud risk understanding.
• Perform initial evaluations of allegations to determine which warrant full investigations or closure.
• Assist in designing investigation plans regarding resources, systems, and timelines to validate claims.
• Analyze investigation cases, prepare reports, and recommend actions regarding noncompliance with codes and policies.
• Conduct all investigation activities, including preliminary reviews, ensuring quality standards and key issues are identified, with reports reviewed by the Manager for Investigation & Compliance.
• Coordinate with the legal department to provide documentation when prosecution is necessary.
• Manage agreement and closure tracking of investigation findings using audit management software.
• Ensure proper management, tracking, and storage of investigation documents both electronically and manually.
• Support implementation and updates of investigation-related software and tools.
• Maintain records and analysis of all fraud and unethical incident allegations.
• Assist the line manager in leading complex and fraud investigation projects by defining project scope, planning, monitoring progress, ensuring quality, and validating findings.
• Engage with senior management to gather information, clarify doubts, and share investigation results appropriately.
• Draft reports for review by the Manager Investigation & Compliance.
• Consistently meet KPIs while maintaining high quality standards.
• Support interactions with external consultants, State Audit Bureau, group legal and financial auditors, and the Audit Committee.
• Lead parts of the recommendations tracking process.
• Contribute to budget preparation by identifying investigation volume and resource needs with the Manager Investigation & Compliance.
• Effectively manage investigation timelines to ensure timely completion.
• Help maintain and update the Investigation Manual and procedures to assure fairness, transparency, robustness, and compliance with data retention and legal requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent with at least 4 years of relevant work experience.
• Professional qualification such as ACA, CPA, ACCA, CFE, or CIA.
• Experience leading investigation projects within internal audit or in public accounting/consulting firms.
• CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) certification.
• Certifications related to risk management or controls self-assessment are advantageous.
• Previous experience in the airline sector is preferred.
• Background in prominent consulting firms considered beneficial.
