Job Overview

Beca invites skilled data engineers to join as Lead Data Engineer in Auckland, New Zealand. This permanent, full-time position involves contributing to groundbreaking digital projects that enhance data-driven decision-making and provide actionable business insights. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and solve complex challenges spanning multiple business areas, countries, and technologies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead design and implementation of enterprise-scale data pipelines, ETL/ELT frameworks, and data warehousing solutions.
  • Maintain and optimize cloud-based data platforms, focusing on robustness and scalability.
  • Implement data security measures, governance policies, and champion data quality and master data management.
  • Partner with stakeholders to translate strategic goals into scalable, secure data architectures and solutions.
  • Work closely with Data Scientists and AI Engineers to integrate advanced analytics and machine learning into operational workflows.
  • Coach and mentor team members while encouraging continuous learning and best practices across the organisation.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates will have substantial experience in data engineering leadership roles, particularly in designing, building, and optimising data platforms in cloud environments. They demonstrate strong technical skills alongside excellent communication and collaboration abilities, enabling effective stakeholder engagement and fostering innovation.

  • Expertise in Azure data pipelines, Microsoft Fabric or equivalent data lake technologies, and SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with Python scripting, data governance frameworks, and master data management practices is a plus.
  • Experience handling structured, unstructured, geospatial, and IoT-related data.
  • Passion for new technologies, continuous improvement, and technical excellence.
