Data Engineer, Product Analytics

Overview

Join Meta as a Data Engineer where you'll contribute to building impactful products across global platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Reality Labs, and Threads. This role involves designing and developing large-scale data systems that enhance user experiences for billions worldwide and support hundreds of millions of businesses.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and own data architecture for multiple major projects, analyzing design choices and operational costs.
• Develop frameworks to enhance data logging, collaborating with data infrastructure teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Partner with engineering, product management, and data science teams to gather data requirements and visually present critical insights.
• Set and manage Service Level Agreements for datasets within your scope.
• Implement data security models adhering to privacy standards, address data quality challenges, and evolve governance practices.
• Build and deploy complex data models and visualizations supporting various products and domains.
• Tackle advanced data integration challenges using effective ETL patterns, working with both structured and unstructured data.
• Support existing production processes, enhancing performance with sophisticated algorithms.
• Refine pipelines, dashboards, and systems to streamline data artifact development.
• Motivate and guide product and cross-functional teams to recognize and leverage data-driven opportunities.
• Mentor colleagues by exchanging constructive feedback to foster team growth.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least 7 years professional experience primarily focused on data roles such as data analyst, data scientist, or data engineer.
• Minimum 7 years expertise with SQL, ETL processes, data modeling, and proficiency in at least one programming language (examples include Python, C++, C#, Scala).

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven ability to integrate AI technologies to redesign workflows and generate measurable improvements in efficiency or quality.
• Ongoing development in AI skills such as prompt engineering or orchestrating AI agents, keeping current with emerging AI innovations.
• Advanced degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in STEM fields.
• Experience practicing responsible and ethical AI, including strategies for risk assessment, bias mitigation, and maintaining quality and accuracy.
