Laundry Worker

Position Overview

This role is based at Tampa General Hospital and involves flexible shift availability to cover any shift as required. Employment options include full-time or part-time schedules with hourly compensation ranging from $15 to $17.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate laundry equipment including washers, dryers, irons, steamers, folding machines, and sewing machines with safety and efficiency.
• Repair and mend uniforms and textiles to maintain their quality, reporting damaged or unusable items to supervisors.
• Maintain accurate records by verifying laundry lists, counting items, weighing articles, and preparing discrepancy reports.
• Ensure cleanliness of laundry areas through sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and waste removal including recyclables.
• Manage supply requisitions, transport and restock supplies, collect unused chemicals, and refill storage containers as needed.
• Perform physically demanding tasks including significant walking, standing for extended periods (up to or exceeding 8 hours per shift), reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and regularly lifting heavy items up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
• Adhere to punctual attendance and reliable presence for scheduled shifts.
• Be prepared to undertake additional duties as assigned that may vary depending on client needs.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent practical experience.
• Between one and two years of relevant work experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on workplace location.
• Bloodborne Pathogen Training could be necessary based on the facility.
