Role Overview

We are seeking a Junior Structural Engineer for our project in Madinah, Saudi Arabia specializing in shop drawing review. The suitable candidate will have strong skills in aviation fuel systems, MRO facilities, and industrial process utilities, with hands-on experience in design review, technical coordination, and project implementation for significant aviation or industrial projects including aviation fuel farms, hydrant networks, MRO workshops, compressed air and oil systems, and specialist utilities. The role supports projects throughout their lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and delivery.

Core Responsibilities

• Support senior engineers in reviewing structural general arrangements, concrete formwork, and reinforcement shop drawings for compliance with approved construction documents, specifications, and project standards.
• Review bar bending schedules by verifying bar marks, diameters, spacing, quantities, bending shapes, and consistency with reinforcement drawings.
• Conduct initial assessments of reinforcement details including concrete cover, laps, anchorage, development lengths, couplers, links, confinement reinforcement, openings, and joints.
• Assist in reviewing details for foundations, pile caps, piers, abutments, beams, slabs, walls, underpasses, station structures, and other structural components.
• Identify reinforcement congestion problems, dimensional variances, missing data, and coordination issues; flag technical challenges to senior engineers for resolution.
• Check coordination of structural elements with architectural, road, drainage, utilities, MEP, and other discipline drawings concerning openings, sleeves, embedded items, anchor bolts, and embedded components.
• Help prepare technical queries, RFI comments, and responses under senior guidance.
• Generate clear draft review comments and verify revisions against previous feedback to ensure timely resolution of review items.
• Coordinate drawing review comments with design, construction, QA/QC, and document-control teams.
• Maintain detailed registers for drawing reviews, revisions, submission tracking, and comment logs to ensure traceability and accountability.
• Support review of as-built structural submissions against approved drawings and site modifications.
• Adhere to project document management workflows and ARX quality standards during handling of technical submissions and reviews.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field.
• Between 1 and 4 years of relevant experience in structural engineering, with a focus on structural and reinforcement shop drawing reviews preferred.
• Experience or exposure to reinforced concrete works, bridges, transport infrastructure, underpasses, stations, or similar civil infrastructure is advantageous.
• Strong understanding of reinforcement detailing, bar bending schedules, reinforced-concrete construction methods, shop drawing interpretation, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Competence in reading and interpreting structural drawings, specifications, IFC drawings, RFIs, and contractor technical documents, with mentorship from senior engineers.
• Basic familiarity with Saudi Building Code and other standards such as ACI, AASHTO, Eurocodes, or British Standards is a plus.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, PDF drawing review software, and Microsoft Office suite.
• Exposure to BIM coordination technologies, model reviews, and electronic document management or common data environments is beneficial.
• Previous involvement in Saudi Arabian or broader GCC infrastructure projects is preferred.
• Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to detect inconsistencies, missing details, and constructability concerns.
• Good written English communication skills to prepare clear review comments under senior coordination.
• Ability to manage submissions, maintain tracking systems, follow up on comments, and meet deadlines within a project workflow.
