Junior Safety Engineer - Aviation Infrastructure Projects

About the Role

We are seeking a Junior Safety Engineer to support environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance across airport development sites including terminal buildings, airside and landside infrastructure, utilities, and support facilities. Reporting to the Senior EHS Manager, this role is pivotal in ensuring safe execution of aviation infrastructure projects within demanding timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the execution of the Project EHS Management Plan and contractor safety policies.
• Perform routine site safety inspections, audits, and compliance checks.
• Enforce adherence to safety procedures, permit-to-work systems, and approved EHS documentation.
• Detect, document, and escalate hazardous behaviors, unsafe conditions, and potential risks.
• Evaluate risk assessments, method statements, and safety procedures linked to construction tasks.
• Supervise high-risk activities such as work at heights, lifting, excavation, confined spaces, electrical work, and hot works.
• Ensure use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proper housekeeping, traffic management, and emergency readiness.
• Assist in investigating incidents, accidents, and near-misses while monitoring corrective measures.
• Lead safety briefings, toolbox talks, inductions, and awareness programs.
• Monitor environmental compliance including waste handling and pollution controls.
• Maintain comprehensive safety records, reports, statistics, and compliance files.
• Coordinate EHS-related efforts among contractors, consultants, and project teams.
• Support emergency drills, preparedness, and response initiatives.
• Identify safety hazards and propose preventive and corrective solutions.
• Prepare and present EHS documentation including audits, compliance reports, and management updates.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related disciplines.
• Preferably certified with NEBOSH, IOSH, Diploma in Industrial Safety, CSP, or equivalent professional safety qualifications.
• 5 to 10 years of overall experience in construction safety or EHS fields.
• At least 5 years of direct experience with airport and aviation infrastructure projects.
• Proven expertise in contractor safety management, safety inspections, risk assessments, permit-to-work protocols, and incident investigations.
• Experience collaborating with PMC consultants, EPC contractors, airport operators, or client project teams.
• Strong understanding of ISO 45001 standards, airport operational safety regulations, and legal compliance commitments.
