Role Overview

We seek a seasoned Java API Architect to join our Sydney-based team. The role offers a salary range between AUD 129,311 and AUD 142,018 annually, with flexibility considered on a case-by-case basis under hybrid working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead API architecture leveraging over 12 years of professional IT experience including a minimum 4 years specifically in API architecture.
• Design and develop services using Java, Spring framework, RESTful APIs, JSON, and web services.
• Understand and apply principles of API and Microservices design, deployment, security, and performance enhancement, including utilizing Swagger specifications.
• Utilize development tools such as Git/Bitbucket, Jenkins/Bamboo, JUnit, Test Automation suites, and SonarQube.
• Render strong client and server-side debugging capabilities.
• Design and manage databases using Hibernate/JPA and SQL for complex query development.
• Communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats.
• Mentor junior team members, meet project deadlines, and collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams including DevOps, QA, and frontend developers.
• Integrate third-party APIs and internal systems ensuring optimal application performance and scalability.
• Draft clean, efficient, well-commented code; engage in code reviews and provide feedback.
• Support production issue troubleshooting and debugging.
• Engage with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline configuration.
• Work with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) cloud environments.

Skills and Competencies

• Hands-on API development expertise.
• Strong background in Spring Boot and automated pipeline creation in GCP.

Educational Requirements

A formal tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, or a related field is essential.
