Job description
About the Role
We are seeking an Investor Relations Associate to contribute to expanding Paires' network of family offices and high-net-worth individuals who invest in startups. Paires is a platform where founders connect with suitable investors from a global community, complemented by agents managing ongoing relationships that lead to meetings. The company is profitable, self-funded, and operates with a small senior team that moves quickly.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and expand a personal book of allocator relationships, both those you bring and new ones you develop, keeping them qualified and engaged.
- Support live investment mandates by qualifying investors, preparing briefing notes, and ensuring follow-ups meet company standards.
- Consistently initiate first conversations each month with new family offices and high-net-worth individuals appropriate for Paires.
- Engage in ongoing personal development by shadowing senior investor calls and enhancing briefing capabilities.
Candidate Profile
- Have begun establishing an allocator network through roles in wealth management, private banking, family offices, placement firms, or independent efforts, and can demonstrate personal relationship-building success.
- Can clearly articulate your approach for identifying investors, initiating initial contact, and maintaining useful, trust-based relationships over time.
- Understand investor behavior, preferably with experience or knowledge of direct investments into US startups.
- Prioritize listening over pitching, respecting investors’ time and discretion, and accept that losing a meeting is better than forcing one.
- Maintain confidentiality instinctively, safeguarding names, allocations, and conversations.
- Utilize modern AI tools effectively to manage pipeline and preparation, focusing time on meaningful investor engagement.
Perks and Work Environment
- Fully remote and asynchronous work, with limited overlap to US Eastern Time hours for meetings scheduled primarily on Mondays and Thursdays.
- Access to top-tier AI-powered tools provided by the company.
- Opportunity to learn directly from a senior, experienced team with immediate involvement in live deals.
- A growing role that can evolve into managing your own segment of the investor network.
Additional Information
Applicants must submit a short application form without including investor names. The selection emphasizes quality of application composition rather than contacts.
