Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze unit and water treatment chemistry to identify issues early, offering professional advice to prevent equipment damage or outage caused by chemistry factors.
• Conduct regular inspections, sample collection, and chemical analyses on-site to ensure operational parameters for water, steam, and chemicals remain within specified limits.
• Lead and collaborate on investigations into steam/water chemistry, emerging technologies, and innovative practices to assess feasibility, risk, and benefits for plant operations.
• Engage proactively with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and technical teams to exchange insights on chemistry, troubleshoot issues, and support plant improvement initiatives.
• Provide expert troubleshooting and practical solutions for water treatment systems to uphold safe and efficient plant functioning.
• Develop, implement, and review standard operating procedures ensuring best practices, regulatory compliance, and improved water treatment and chemical management efficiency.
• Comply with hazardous substance protocols concerning safe handling, storage, usage, and disposal of chemicals.
• Maintain thorough documentation including records, reports, and quality control information aligned with health, safety, and compliance standards.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree in Chemistry, preferably with a specialization in industrial applications.
• Experience in plant operations focused on water and steam cycle chemistry; knowledge of subcritical high-pressure drum boiler chemistry encompassing All Volatile Treatment (oxidizing), Oxygenated Treatment, and multiple pressure heat recovery steam generator chemistry using Caustic Treatment.
• Familiarity with condensate polishing, flow accelerated corrosion mitigation, stator coolant chemistry, steam/water analysis techniques, evaporative cooling tower chemistry, legionella control, data interpretation, plant inspections, and preparing technical documentation.
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with proven problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities.
• Proficient in chemical testing, laboratory analysis, and industrial reporting standards.
• Knowledgeable about quality management systems, ISO standards, and Health and Safety at Work Act compliance.
• Strong communicator and collaborator with an ability to influence stakeholders, foster relationships, and work autonomously as part of a small team.

Work Conditions

This is a permanent full-time role based onsite at Huntly, working Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM (minimum 40 hours per week).

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary ranging from $100,000 to $130,000.
