Role Overview
Join our Auckland-based mobile development team to enhance and maintain the Genesis Energy app. You’ll be instrumental in developing customer-centric features like account management, billing, usage tracking, payments, dashboards, and electric vehicle (EV) support. Collaborate closely with senior developers, product managers, designers, QA teams, and backend engineers. This role also embraces the adoption of AI-driven development tools to boost productivity and code quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Android app features within a Kotlin multi-module project structure.
- Create modern Android user interfaces leveraging Jetpack Compose, manage asynchronous operations using Coroutines and Flow, and implement dependency injection with Hilt.
- Integrate RESTful APIs effectively and manage UI states during data loading, success, and error scenarios.
- Produce comprehensive tests, perform code reviews, and troubleshoot production issues thoroughly.
- Utilize GitHub Copilot and actively participate in evaluating AI-assisted development tools to enhance development workflows.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Approximately three or more years of professional experience in native Android development using Kotlin.
- Practical expertise with Jetpack Compose and contemporary Android architecture patterns.
- Working knowledge of ViewModels, lifecycle-aware state management, Coroutines, Flow, and dependency injection frameworks.
- Experience consuming REST APIs, implementing meaningful automated tests, and managing source code with Git and pull request workflows.
- A collaborative mindset with an emphasis on maintainable code, problem-solving, and thoughtfully integrating AI tools into development.
