Job description
Location and Work Schedule
This position is based at the Transmission Gully Motorway in Wellington, New Zealand. The role follows a roster of four days on followed by four days off, working rotating 12-hour shifts. Day shifts run from 6:00am to 6:00pm, while night shifts are from 6:00pm to 6:00am.
Role Overview
As an Incident Responder / Network Steward, you will play a crucial role in patrolling the motorway network, attending to incidents and emergencies, assisting motorists, and ensuring the smooth and safe operation of this significant transport corridor.
Key Duties
- Perform regular patrols along the Transmission Gully motorway.
- React promptly to incidents, vehicle breakdowns, and emergency scenarios.
- Support traffic management efforts and implement road closures as necessary.
- Detect and report any hazards, defects, or maintenance needs on the network.
- Collaborate effectively with emergency services, contractors, and operations teams.
- Keep detailed and accurate records and incident documentation.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental protocols.
- Provide exceptional customer service to road users.
Candidate Profile
- Must hold a valid Class 2 Driver Licence.
- STMS Category C certification is preferred.
- Experience in sectors such as traffic management, civil construction, emergency response, road maintenance, or security is advantageous.
- Excellent communication and sound decision-making abilities.
- A calm and professional demeanor when handling high-pressure incidents.
- A proactive attitude towards safety and risk assessment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Physical fitness and readiness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
