Job description
Overview
Join our dedicated team in the Mangere area of Auckland as a Housing Support Manager. In this role, you will engage closely with a selected group of customers and their whānau, fostering supportive and lasting relationships to ensure their housing and wellbeing needs are consistently addressed as circumstances evolve.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers in achieving stable housing and social wellbeing.
- Manage portfolios comprising low to medium needs customers, including addressing disruptive behaviours effectively.
- Conduct home visits to customers' Kāinga Ora residences and attend stakeholder meetings to coordinate tailored support and services.
- Travel extensively within the region as required for in-person support and meetings.
- Handle rent arrears and debt recovery initiatives with tenants.
Candidate Profile
- Possess in-depth knowledge and practical experience with the Residential Tenancy Act.
- Excel at building relationships across diverse populations and backgrounds.
- Demonstrate skill in de-escalating intense emotional situations through problem-solving and empathetic engagement.
- Exhibit strong critical thinking abilities, adaptability, and efficient prioritisation in a dynamic environment.
- Comfortable and proficient in managing arrears and debt recovery processes.
- Technologically adept with an aptitude for quickly learning new digital tools and systems.
- Experience in tenancy, emergency, or social housing sectors is advantageous.
- Passion for supporting individuals facing complex housing and wellbeing challenges.
- Cultural awareness that supports responsive and respectful engagement, particularly with Māori and Pasifika communities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
