Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities seeks a Principal Analyst to join their Research and Intelligence team within Finance in Wellington. This pivotal role involves transforming complex datasets into actionable insights that impact strategy, policy, planning, and investment decisions affecting New Zealand communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead intricate analytical projects addressing strategic and policy challenges.
• Extract and interpret insights from structured, unstructured, and linked administrative data including the Integrated Data Infrastructure.
• Communicate complex findings clearly with actionable recommendations for senior leadership.
• Develop predictive models, forecasting tools, and conduct scenario analyses.
• Utilize statistical, machine learning, and evaluation methodologies effectively.
• Collaborate across departments to identify opportunities and guide decision-making.
• Maintain analytical rigour, data integrity, and ethical standards in data usage.
• Support ongoing enhancement of research and intelligence capabilities within Kāinga Ora.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification, preferably postgraduate level.
• Experience in advanced analytics, data science, research, or intelligence functions.
• Proficiency in statistical modeling and quantitative research methods.
• Background working in mixed-methods research environments.
• Competence managing complex datasets and producing strategic and policy-driven insights.
• Knowledge of enterprise data platforms, data warehousing, and contemporary analytical tools.
• Strong written and oral communication skills to present complex information clearly.
• Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and collaborative abilities.
• A strategic mindset with sound judgment and commitment to evidence-led decisions.
• Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced setting with evolving priorities.
