Job description

Role Overview

Kāinga Ora is on the search for an experienced Portfolio Lead to ensure their Transformation and Technology Operations portfolio is achievable, well-integrated, and realistic. This role is vital in influencing the successful delivery of transformation initiatives and digital IT projects that support people, partners, and customers throughout New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide portfolio improvements and delivery processes to enable effective organizational transformation.
  • Collaborate with executive and senior leadership as well as delivery teams to support sound portfolio governance, strategic planning, and efficient execution of projects.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with deep expertise in portfolio management and is passionate about fostering successful delivery. They excel in challenging and complex environments, skillfully balancing multiple priorities and turning data-driven insights into actionable improvements. Confidence in navigating complex technology landscapes and steering delivery outcomes across diverse portfolios is essential.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven success in senior-level portfolio management, delivery assurance, and governance within transformation and technology-related projects.
  • Strong knowledge of technology operations including infrastructure, platforms, service delivery, and SDLC methodologies.
  • Experience influencing planning, prioritisation, and delivery decisions among a wide range of stakeholders to build consensus and drive momentum.
  • Background working within large and complex entities, preferably within the public sector.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities to identify risks and devise practical solutions that improve portfolio performance.
  • Capability to merge strategic vision with operational execution ensuring plans align with organizational goals and are realistic and achievable.

Additional Information
