Hotel General Maintenance Operative

Role Overview

We are looking for a committed and skilled General Maintenance Operative to join our team at The Tower Hotel in Waterford City. As part of the Neville Hotel Group, the role involves maintaining the hotel to excellent standards, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and welcoming atmosphere for guests and staff alike. Your responsibilities will include both scheduled preventive maintenance and addressing urgent repair requests promptly, minimizing any disturbance to hotel activities.

Key Duties

• Perform general maintenance work throughout the hotel premises, inside and out.
• Execute planned preventative maintenance initiatives efficiently.
• Respond quickly to reactive maintenance needs to reduce guest and operation disruption.
• Repair plumbing elements such as toilets, showers, sinks, and related fixtures.
• Handle basic electrical repairs including replacing spotlights, fittings, and transformers.
• Conduct painting, decorating, and minor repair jobs.
• Carry out fundamental carpentry and joinery tasks involving furniture, fittings, and doors.
• Support mechanical and electrical planned maintenance operations.
• Identify and report maintenance concerns across the property promptly.
• Collaborate with various hotel departments to ensure maintenance tasks are completed effectively.
• Complete all work adhering to Neville Hotels’ quality standards and maintain compliance with procedures and safety protocols.
• Follow fire safety regulations, health and safety laws, and hotel security policies rigorously.

Candidate Profile

• Previous maintenance experience, preferably within the hotel or a comparable environment.
• Solid practical knowledge of general maintenance disciplines including plumbing, electrical work, decorating, tiling, and carpentry.
• A motivated, enthusiastic individual capable of performing well under pressure.
• Self-starter who can manage workload independently.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
• Strong ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Professional communication skills to interact effectively with guests, management, and staff.
• In-depth awareness of workplace Health & Safety practices.
• Flexibility and readiness to support the company's operational needs.
