Key Responsibilities
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of dining room layouts, seating assignments by table/seat/section numbers, table setup standards, room capacity, operating hours, price ranges, and dress codes.
- Manage restaurant reservation processes including accurate recording, confirmation, and communication of bookings and cancellations, adhering to departmental guidelines.
- Answer incoming telephone calls promptly within three rings while demonstrating proper telephone etiquette and salutations.
- Stay updated on daily house counts, guest arrivals/departures, VIP guests, and scheduled in-house group activities including their timing and locations.
- Ensure menus and check folders are clean, well-stocked, and that the hostess stand remains tidy and organized.
- Pre-assign tables according to reservations and special requests, escort guests to their designated seating fairly among waitstaff, and present menus attentively.
- Manage guest seating effectively according to the floor plan while ensuring guests are comfortable and satisfied with their tables.
- Anticipate busy periods and organize procedures to efficiently manage wait lines, maintaining positive guest relations at all times.
- Be knowledgeable about hotel services and activities to address guest inquiries accurately and handle complaints promptly following pacification procedures to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Monitor and participate in clearing and resetting tables following departmental standards, maintain cleanliness and working condition of all equipment and supplies in own section.
- Support restaurant staff when requested to optimize guest service and foster a collaborative work environment that maximizes productivity and quality.
- Conduct systematic table visits during meal periods to confirm guest satisfaction and promote food and beverage outlets during downtime.
- Complete training processes successfully and assist supervisors with cashier duties and menu printing as needed.
Additional Duties
- Arrive punctually wearing proper uniform and name tag while maintaining a high standard of personal grooming and hygiene aligned with hotel appearance policies.
- Provide cordial, professional, and attentive service at all times while maintaining positive working relationships across all departments.
- Comply with the hotel's employee handbook, policies, and procedures with special attention to fire, hygiene, health, and safety regulations as well as local laws.
- Adapt to departmental changes as required by hotel needs; undertake flexible duties including potential redeployment to other departments to meet business demands and guest service expectations.
- Participate actively in required trainings and meetings.
