Role Purpose

At Fisher & Paykel Home Solutions, we empower homeowners to adopt cleaner, smarter energy approaches. As we expand our residential solar and comprehensive home energy portfolio, we seek a skilled Residential Solar Design Engineer to be part of our Design Services team. This role involves creating innovative and practical residential solar and energy system designs that excel in performance, reliability, and value for customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop intricate residential solar and energy system designs that fulfill engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and client needs.
• Translate customer specifications into detailed technical drawings, perform energy modeling, and system calculations.
• Collaborate closely with Product, Sales, Installation, and Service teams to facilitate technically sound and commercially viable solutions.
• Ensure designs support successful installations and enhance customer experience.
• Contribute to the ongoing refinement of design processes, standards, and team capabilities within the Home Solutions division.
• Handle diverse design aspects involving residential solar PV, whole-home energy solutions, energy modeling, HVAC, hot-water systems, load calculations, all aimed at improving sustainability and reducing energy costs for homeowners.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of three years’ experience in designing or installing residential solar systems; expertise in HVAC or hot-water systems is a strong advantage.
• Deep knowledge of relevant standards such as AS/NZS 4777, 5033, 5139, and 4509, along with familiarity with residential construction and building codes.
• Proficiency in industry-specific design and modeling software like SolarPlus, PVSyst, TRNSYS, or Revit.
• Strong analytical skills with a sharp attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple design projects effectively.
• Collaborative mindset, customer orientation, readiness to challenge established methods, commitment to continuous improvement, and willingness to share expertise within the team.
• Dedicated to delivering high-quality designs while upholding safety and enhancing customer satisfaction.
