About the Role

Sainsbury's stores are dynamic environments where each day brings new challenges, centered around our passion for food and community. As a Home Delivery Driver, you play a crucial role delivering the products our online customers order with care and punctuality.

Eligibility Criteria

• Must be aged 18 or over with a valid full UK/EU driving license held for at least 12 months and no more than 6 points.
• Completion of an online driving risk assessment as part of the interview process; successful candidates will undergo a driving assessment upon joining.
• Right to work in the UK is mandatory.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a 3.5 tonne van to deliver groceries to customers’ doorsteps punctually and in good condition.
• Perform checks to ensure the van is clean, organized, roadworthy, and delivery cases are securely stowed prior to journeys.
• Provide excellent customer service by answering queries, handling substitutions, and informing customers of any delays.
• Develop solid product knowledge to offer suitable recommendations.
• Assist with duties inside the store when not engaged in deliveries.

About You

• Friendly, welcoming, and genuinely enthusiastic about delivering excellent doorstep experiences for customers.
• Skilled at driving larger vehicles in diverse environments, including busy urban streets and rural lanes, delivering to various types of properties.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced and physically demanding role, demonstrating problem-solving skills and initiative, as well as being a cooperative team member.
• Flexible and proactive, willing to contribute to various tasks across the store; training is provided for multiple skills to support your development.
• Capable and willing to learn new digital tools and technologies to perform duties efficiently, and able to handle shopping containers weighing up to 15 kg.
• Operate within a safer driving framework supported by in-cab AI cameras monitoring driving behavior to promote adherence to defensive driving and road safety standards.
